Antiseptic detergent (MRA-Mycoplasma Remover Agent).

Mycoplasmafree a desinfection product, particulaly powerfull against mycoplasma but also possessing wide spectrum virucidal, bactericidal and fungicidal activity.
Is a spray solution for safe disinfection of all laboratory surfaces and apparatus, including clean and work benches, incubators, cell storage boxes, liquid nitrogen containers, and so on.

Desinfection of laboratory surfaces and apparatus:
Surfaces: Spray Mycoplasmafree directely on the contaminated surface untill it is moistened completely.
After 5 minutes wipe to dryness the surface with a paper towel.
Does not leave any residue.
Caution: may cause some discoloration of sensitive surfaces. Test the surface prior to use.
Lab apparatus: Moisten a papertowel with Mycoplasmafree and wipe off all surfaces of apparatus. Wipe to dryness with a new paper towel.

Mycoplasma species are very common contaminants of cell cultures, but unlike bacteria and fungi, they are relatively small organisms and its detection is very dificult by the commom tecniques, like a standard microscope. So, they often go unnoticed and cause cell infection. The symptoms include changes in pH of the cell media, changes in cell morphology and unusually high cell mortality. These cultures must be isoled and destroyed quicky to avoid cross contamination.
Inability to see these signs does not necessary mean that mycoplasma is absent from cultures: low levels of mycoplasma infection will still produce unreliable results in tissue culture experiments because cell growth, metabolism and protein synthesis are altered.

The usual way of contamination is a media spill from contaminated cell culture during loadind and unloading of the cabinet. These spill can contaminate the trays and the water reservoir. Mycoplasma are known to survive a distinct time on smooth surfaces even after the spilled culture medium has dried out. Especially contaminated lab equipment and lab surfaces cause the spread out of mycoplasma.

Only frequent cleansing and desinfection of all surfaces and equipment can fight and avoid mycoplasma contamination in laboratories.
